What We’re Looking For

What To Expect
Each film submitted will undergo a review process, with feedback provided regardless of festival progression.
Whether showcased on our website or selected for festival screenings, your work will be appreciated and critiqued by industry professionals.
Techical Requirements

File Specifications
Video

  • File formats supported: .MOV Apple ProRes 422 codec (h.265 will be accepted if bandwidth is an issue), .MKV, .DCP.
  • DCP file submissions are supported but not recommended, they also require the submission of either an .MOV or .MKV file.
  • 1080p minimum, 4K Preferred.
  • 24 fps is preferred.

Audio

  • Minimum requirement of 2.0 Stereo in 16 bit 48kHz with support for a 5.1 mix. (event screenings might not always play at full 5.1)

Subtitles

  • Must be either burnt or encoded with foreign language scenes, subtitles must be in English.
  • For English language films, all filmmakers will be requested to supply a subtitle file (.srt or .vtt) to make their work accessible.
  • Where necessary ensure subtitles have a border/drop shadow or are presented in a different colour to white to ensure the text is clearly legible.

Final notes

  • Runtime requirements are a minimum of 3 mins no longer than 30 mins.
  • Any aspect ratio is accepted, keep in mind to standardise screenings, films are shown at a 16:9 ratio.
  • Ensure the video file is named as the title of your film
  • It is the filmmakers responsibility to ensure that the delivered film is technically correct. The festival adheres to a strict quality control check for all films, but ultimately it is the responsibility of the filmmakers to check the quality of their work. Please check your film thoroughly before delivery.
  • Voltice Film Fest does not accept responsibility for visual or sound errors.

Promo Package
  • All film submissions are also required to come with a digital promotional package including the following:
    • 1 sheet poster with logo (vertical)
    • quad poster with logo (horizontal)
    • quad poster without logo (horizontal)
    • Film Logo
    • Production / Partners logos
    • Synopsis
    • Character quotes
    • Filmmaker statements
    • BTS content eg. Production stills
    NOTE: All logos are required to be submitted in the .svg or .png format (transparent background)
Additional Guidelines
  • There is no premiere requirement. We will accept submissions of films that have previously screened elsewhere, including at other festivals.
  • Your entry form must include your name, address, telephone number and email so that we can contact you.
  • There is no required completion date for screening, but films completed in the past 2 years are preferred.
Terms
  • We do not cover licensing fees.
  • Your film must not be in breach of any copyright, including music or sound used in your film.
  • We will use stills, trailers and excerpts for promotion, including the festival trailer, filmmaker interviews and social media.
  • Submissions are final and subject to a no refund policy.
  • All submissions are watched in their entirety and given the full attention of our team of programmers. The date of submission has no reflection on our selection decisions.
  • Voltice Film Fest aspires to provide the great quality projection possible but will not be held liable for any failure in the technical quality of the projection, nor will fees be refunded in any such case.
